Hawaii Five-O and Revolution alumni Daniel Henney has been cast in the role of al’Lan Mandragoran in the upcoming The Wheel of Time show.al’Lan Mandragoran, more commonly known as Lan in The Wheel of Time books, is the sole survivor of the kingdom of Malkier’s royal line, and the region’s uncrowned king. He possesses several monikers, including Lord of the Seven Towers, Defender of the Wall of First Fores, and Bearer of the Sword of the Thousand Lakes.
The Wheel of Time is currently in production at Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television, and adapts the works of Robert Jordan. The fantasy book series follows the story of Moiraine (played by Rosamund Pike) and a band of adventurers who travel a world where only certain women are allowed access to powerful magic. Among the group is someone prophesied to be the Dragon Reborn, who will go on to save or destroy humanity.
Henney is the latest addition to the cast, which already includes actors set to play Nynaeve, Mat, Perrin, Rang, and Egwene in The Wheel of Time.
The series is being adapted by showrunner Rafe Judkins, previously of Agents of SHIELD and Hemlock Grove, and Uta Briesewitz – who has directed episodes of Westworld and Stranger Things – is set to helm the first two episodes.
