Lethal Weapon has been renewed for Season 3, with Seann William Scott joining the show as the new co-lead.

FOX announced Scott will play a new character—replacing Clayne Crawford’s Martin Riggs—who partners up with Murtaugh (Damon Wayans). This will be Scott’s first series regular role in a network TV show.

Crawford was recently fired from the series following two on-set incidents related to concerns over working conditions. Crawford had to apologize for those two specific incidents, with the actor reportedly completing studio-appointed therapy.

A premiere date for Season 3 has not been set yet.

Scott is best known for his roles as Steve Stifler in the American Pie franchise and Doug Glatt in the two Goon movies. Be sure to read IGN’s review of Goon: Last of the Enforcers, which we think is “the rare great sports movie sequel.”

He also plays Trooper Callaghan in Super Troopers 2, which found to be “another goofy, raucous ride.”
