S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 has been revealed and is currently set to launch in 2021.
The news was revealed via a landing website which features the game’s name and current release window.
This was later confirmed thanks to a Facebook post from Sergiy Grygorovych, CEO of GSC Games World, the development house responsible for the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series.
“Today 15.05.2018… I officially declare: GSC GAME WORLD DEVELOPS S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2,” reads Grygorovych’s post, followed by a link to the promotional website for the game.
The latest release in the gritty post-apocalyptic survival horror series was S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat, which arrived back in 2009. For our thoughts on the last entry in the series, read IGN’s review.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 has had a tumultuous development cycle, previously being announced and then later cancelled in 2011.
Later, In 2012 GSC Game World stated that the game was “currently in development” without a release date. A report circulated later that year that Bethesda had acquired the rights to the series.
Finally, it looks like this game will be seeing the light of day after a long nuclear winter. These are all the details we have for now, but for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 news further down the line, keep it locked here at IGN.
